Chaos in San Juan?
Donald Trump isn't the only thing causing problems in San Juan. Despite being in first place, Stephen Eh Smith is hearing that there could be some major shakeups in the Land of the Lost (power).
Last night I got a text message from a friend of a friend of Manny Machado, who said that many of the players have lost faith in current manager of the Guerites who will remain nameless (seriously, does anyone even know his name?). It all started at the trade deadline last year when the Guerites inexplicitly traded Rafael Devers for Jose Quintana. Now don't get me wrong, the trade wasn't all bad because they got back JD (Just Dongs) Martinez, but Quintana has been a colossal waste of a roster spot and the worst performing starter on a solid pitching squad.
Let's take a look at the 2017 offseason - the Guerites decided not to keep Kelvin Herrera and didn't even try to shop the sure-to-be first round draft choice in the Major League Draft. "Just poor management" said an anonymous player whose name is a homonym for "column". Instead, San Juan kept three closers, 2 of which are no longer producing stats for the one reason they're on the roster. - To be fair, Herrera isn't contributing saves anymore, but that's besides the point.
"Management should have seen the volatile closers and made better plans, now they gonna overpay" said the neighbor of JT Realmuto's dog walker.
San Juan got lucky in the Major League draft, especially in Round 1 and 2 with the M&M boys (Morton and Mikolas), but that doesnt help my point so we're gonna forget about it.
Now halfway through the season, San Juan sits at the top of the EHCC and has the #1 pick in the 2018 MiDraft. All I'm hearing from reliable sources is that "No one is confident the San Juan is gonna make the right pick" and "Are they gonna trade the pick for a bottom-tier closer?".
I'll tell you this, no one is untouchable on the Guerites and San Juan is looking to make a big move at prior to the MiDraft and will be looking to deal at the annual GM Meetings at Fenway Park (July 14). They may even have a new GM at that point.
San Juan is at the top, but the next few weeks will determine if they can stay there and win when it matters most.
Oh and before I go, I got something to say to Max Powers. Max, keep my name out your damn mouth. Go tell your mans to stop calling my boys about a wack-ass trade. And contrary to what you just read, Machado is not going anywhere, especially Las Vegas. Lastly, check the submissions page from last year, each podcast appearance counted as a submission, so I hope you enjoyed this free article.
***UPDATE***
San Juan has officially announced that BERNIE WILLIAMS is the new GM and CEO of the San Juan Guerites, that other bum is officially out.
I'm hearing the last straw was the release of Michael Pineda without trying to trade him. It wasn't the fact that they didn't get anything for Pineda, it's because someone with connections in Tijuana suggested they trade him at least for a bag of balls or maybe a beer. When people with connections to Tijuana make more sense then you, you got big problems.
Early reports suggest that Mr. Bernie is looking to pull off a Danny Ainge and drop back a few spots and acquire other assets.
So good luck Mr. Bernie, you better not screw this up because I don't know many other Puerto Ricans left for this job. And inside sources say to look for Pineda to land in Tijuana or Las Vegas where he can suck for them too.
