Powers' Rankings: Week 17

Week 15 was the Week of the West. Week 16 saw the Eastern Division show signs of domination - except San Fernando of course. The east once again have 2 teams in the top 6, but who knows for how long that will last....

Quebec City is pissed after getting blown out by the Doggs in Week 16. If I were Santo Domingo I'd expect the Piglets to come out looking for a vengance win.

Weymouth wins their first match up since Week 12 and it feels oh so good. All 4 of the Poo's losses have come at the hands of Western Division opponents, so they've got to feel good finishing the final 5 weeks agains their eastern rivals.

Santo Domingo sits in the middle of the toughest stretch of their season schedule. After losing to Weymouth they travel to Canada to take on the pissed off Piglets just to get on a plane and sweat it our in the Tijuana sun the week after. This could be a defining moment for the All-Star Factory

They win and lose at the same time. Somehow Rakeville beats Tijuana and it catapults the Hispanics into 1st place and since every action needs an equal and opposite reaction, the Rockets drop to 10th. It's just science.

Andrew McCutchen was really enjoying playing against his former team from the north (7 R, 5 HR, 9 RBI, .286 AVG). The Piglets put up a crazy low 1.34 ERA and 0.97 WHIP but still lost both categories. One small hiccup and the Doggs only win 6-4 rather than the 8-2 blow out.

How great would it be if Rio sells off all their assets and somehow backs their way into the playoffs - providing a perfect opposite to their 2016 campaign? Stranger things have happened.

Buyer beware! The Guerites saw a chance and they took it, and they didn't let a silly 0-4 run deter them from going all in this season. It's paid off so far and they should get some added confidence against the Jets this week.

The Weasels found some gems on the free agent market this season (Smoak, Morrison) and got everything they could out of their stars (Judge, Wood, deGrom), but it just doesn't seem to be enough. They'll try to play spoiler in the East the rest of the way.

This could/should be the week we see our first mathematically playoff eliminated team. But they're not out yet, so they'll probably fight tooth and nail to...sorry, that was meant for the San Juan write up. San Fernando Valley already went home.
