EHCC 2014 Final Performance
The 2014 regular season is in the books. The leader in weekly top scorer for 2014 was Las Vegas who put up 102 points in week19. The loser for worst score of 2014 was Bridgewater who put up only 25.5 points also in week19.
Cha-Ching!
I’ll give Augusta credit. If you’re going to blow it, you
might as well BLOW IT. Not only did AUG give away the 3.5 games to RAK to miss
the playoffs, they also gave away an additional 4.5 games. AUG finishes the
season in the worst possible position, #7. Not good enough to make the dance;
not bad enough to get a good pick. To make matters worse, AUG management now
owes many league members a 10-spot for not being able to make the playoffs. Derek,
I require my money in small, crisp, non-sequential bills.
The fall of SD.
One of the biggest surprises of the season is the fall of the
2013 EHCC champion Santo Domingo All-Star Factory. The ASF rolled into 2014
with roughly the same roster that took home the goods in 2013. Most, if not all
prognostications had SD as a 2014 championship contender. But that’s not how it
played out. Excuse making aside, come the trade deadline SD found themselves with
a sputtering team that was compiling injuries at an alarming rate. SD
management was prepared to “hold” at the deadline until stud pitcher Cliff Lee
was again injured and pronounced done for the season. A handful of emails later
and SD ripped apart their core by shipped David Ortiz, John Lackey, Greg
Holland and Koji Uehara to Las Vegas for Carlos Gonzalez, Matt Cain and few bags
of baseballs. SD later continued to dismantle their roster by sending Brandon
Phillips and Bartolo Colon to WEY for a flyer on Danny Hultzen and a mi pick. Management
believes that these moves will help propel the proud SD franchise back into relevancy
for 2015 and beyond.
Feeling unlucky?
Below is a summary of the PF and PA for the 2014 regular
season. As in my last post, the delta(∆) column is your PA minus 65 (65 being
the average). This number gives you an idea of how teams performed against you.
You’ll see that the most “lucky” teams of 2014 were Rakeville, Quebec City, San
Juan and Rio. While the most “unlucky” teams were Santo Domingo, Bridgewater
and Las Vegas.
One Last Thing…
That leaked shirtless pic of Justin Verlander haunts me.
Seriously, I had some Reebok propaganda in my work cube with a picture of him
on it. I had to take it down. Some things just can’t be unseen.
Good luck to everyone still in the playoffs. See you mofo’s
in Vegas!
